Sexual health is an important issue in the UK today; even more so in the Adult Entertainment Industry. For many years there has been an unspoken Code of Practice in the ‘Straight’ Adult Industry with respect to sexual health, but to date there has been no attempt to formulate a similar Code of Practice within the Gay Adult Industry.

Recently, production companies, directors and models have had increasing concerns for the safety of models after an apparent increase in the number of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) caught on film shoots.

In response to this, leading adult gay film directors have worked alongside health advisors at the West London Centre for Sexual Health at Charing Cross Hospital, who run the Indigo Service for people working in the Adult Entertainment Industry. Together they developed what is hoped will become an industry-wide Code of Practice and have launched the GAIKISS initiative.

GAIKISS is an attempt to have a Code of Practice that both producers of gay adult material and models who work in the industry can follow to make the sex that is practiced safer and that both sides can rely on a basic level of protection. The information on this site has been gathered together from a wide range of sources and the Code of Practice has been drawn up with reference to a number of qualified health advisors and experienced people in the ‘straight’ and ‘gay’ adult industry.

Working in the Gay Adult Industry does not pose any greater sexual health risks than exist in society in general, in fact the vast majority of producers and models take their own sexual health and the sexual health of those they work with very seriously – for both sides, excluding any moral and legal obligations, there are considerable financial implications that would occur if anyone contracts any communicable disease that puts them out of work for any length of time.

Working with someone in a sexual context, simply because it is putting two people in a close and often intimate situation, can never be 100% safe in terms of sexual health but everyone in the Gay Adult Industry should be making efforts to remove any unnecessary risks and making the industry a safer place to work in.

Within this site you will also find a large amount of information about the risks involved with various sexual activities, STIs, GUM clinics and the certification process.

You will also find a list of producers and models who subscribe to this Code of Practice and if you work with them you can expect them to work within it. This does not mean that any producer or model who is not listed is taking risks with sexual health BUT you cannot assume that anyone not listed has sexual health issue as a priority in the work they undertake. If working with a company or a model that is not listed it is YOU who needs to take responsibility to check. As a rule ‘If in doubt – don’t!’ Your health is too important.

REMEMBER
DON’T TAKE UNECESSARY RISKS – IT IS NOT WORTH IT!
