Risky Sex?
Sex is obviously the backbone of the Gay Adult Industry so we need to be aware of the risks involved.
Working in the Gay Adult Industry does not pose any greater sexual health risks than exist in society in general, in fact the vast majority of producers and models take their own sexual health and the sexual health of those they work with very seriously – for both sides, excluding any moral and legal obligations, there are considerable financial implications that would occur if anyone contracts any communicable disease that puts them out of work for any length of time.
Working with someone in a sexual context, simply because it is putting two people in a close and often intimate situation, can never be 100% safe in terms of sexual health but everyone in the Gay Adult Industry should be making efforts to remove any unnecessary risks and making the industry a safer place to work in.
The more informed you are about the risks, the easier it will be for you to navigate them. In this section you will find information about different kinds of sex, and the related HIV and other STI risks of each of them. Most STIs are preventable and curable, so it's worth taking care of your sexual health. If you have any STI symptoms get yourself to a GUM Clinic as soon as possible, and avoid sex until they've given you the all clear. You can have some STI without showing any symptoms, so if you have an active sex life you need a regular full sexual health check up.
